Plumbing for Your Remodel, Done Right the First Time
Most remodels hit the plumbing at some point. Moving a sink, adding a shower, finishing a basement bathroom or relocating the washer all mean new drains, vents and water lines inside the walls and floor. Once the drywall and tile go up, that work is buried, so it needs to be right before anyone closes it in.
Simply Plumbing handles the plumbing for remodels in existing homes across Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee. You get a licensed Tennessee plumber, not a salesman, and no fee just to come look at the project.
Remodel Projects We Rough In
Whether you’re working with a contractor or doing the rest of the project yourself, we take care of the plumbing:
- Bathroom remodels: moving or adding a toilet, vanity, shower or tub, including the shower valve
- Kitchen remodels: relocating the sink, adding an island sink, dishwasher and ice-maker lines
- Basement bathrooms and wet bars in finished basements
- Laundry room moves: new washer box, drain and supply lines
- Running new gas lines for a range, dryer or fireplace in the new layout

How a Remodel Rough-In Works
A remodel usually takes two plumbing visits, with your other trades working in between:
- 1
Walk the project
We look at the layout you want and where the existing drains, vents and water lines run, then give you a price before any work starts.
- 2
Rough-in
With the walls and floor open, we run the new drain, vent and supply lines to where the fixtures will go, and test them so nothing leaks once it’s covered.
- 3
Your remodel continues
Drywall, tile, cabinets and countertops go in. Rough-in lines stay capped and protected until it’s time to finish.
- 4
Trim-out
We come back to set the toilet, faucets, shower trim, sinks and appliances, connect everything and check it all works.
Why the Rough-In Matters
A rough-in is the part of the remodel nobody sees, and it’s the part that causes the most trouble when it’s rushed. Drains need the right slope, every fixture needs proper venting, and supply lines need to land exactly where the vanity or valve will sit. Get it wrong and you’re cutting into brand-new tile to fix it.
We take our time on the layout and test the lines before the walls close. If something in the existing plumbing is worn out, like old galvanized supply lines or a cracked drain, we’ll point it out while the walls are open, when fixing it is easiest. Bigger problems sometimes make it a good time to consider repiping.
Pair It With a Water Heater or Fixture Upgrade
A remodel is a good time to upgrade what feeds those new fixtures. A bigger bathroom or a soaking tub can outgrow an old tank, and plenty of homeowners use a remodel to switch to a tankless water heater. If you just need fixtures swapped without moving any plumbing, that’s regular plumbing repair work.
